

“Papa”
Mr. Litaker, 82, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on February 5, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Chapman Memorial Baptist Church, 608 Valleydale Road, with a service to celebrate his life beginning at 3:00 PM.
Fred was born December 11, 1928, in Albemarle, NC, son of the late Fred Litaker and Mattie Hatley Litaker.
Fred, who retired at age 76, was a devoted employee of Charlotte Pipe and Foundry for 46 years where he was known for generously taking new hires under his wing. He was instrumental in furthering the careers of many Charlotte Pipe associates. Their appreciation and admiration for him was never-ending.
An avid fisherman and gardener, Papa was mentor for and adored by his grandchildren. His whistling birdcalls were amazing to all who knew him.
Papa’s family includes his wife, Joanne, with whom he celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on February 1, 2011; children, Freida Shriver (John) of Spanish Fort, AL, Meta Parsons (Marshal) of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Donny Brown (Amber), Greg Brown (Shea), Zac Parnell, Meredith Daniels (Sam); and great grandchildren, Olivia and Sydney Brown.
