Fred served in the United States Air Force for 30 years. He is a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Fred received many medals, including; Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Metal, Airforce Good Conduct Medal with 6 devices, Master Aircrew Wings, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon with 1 Device, Army Good Conduct Medal with 4 Devices, AF Longevity Service Award with 6 Devices, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Device, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 devices, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and 1 Device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with 1 Device, AF Presidential Unit Citation and AF Outstanding Unit Award. Fred was apart of the Endurance Crew on the B36. His last assignment was with the AF Data Systems Design Center as a Systems Superintendent.
Fred enjoyed his Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church family, serving as an Elder. He was also involved In the Men's Group, Choir, Music, Worship and the Finance committee. In his spare time Fred enjoyed gardening.
Fred is survived by his wife of 40 years , Nancy Geiter; sons, Rick (Yvonne) and Gary Geiter; brother, Charles Geiter; three grandchildren, many nephews, a niece and his loyal dog Abbey. He is preceded in death by son, Collin Geiter.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at McEwen Pineville. A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Legacy Heights for the loving care they provided for over 4 years.
