Born in High Point, she was a daughter of the late Johnny Rankin Wells and Evelyn Hall Wells.
In addition to her husband of 44 years, Mrs. Rice is survived by a daughter, Monty Newell Smith (Steve); three grandchildren, Shannon Grant (Adam), Lindsey Leitch (Bradley), and Alon Smith; and four great grandchildren, Jackson, Levi, Shelby, and Sidney. She was predeceased by a great granddaughter, Phoenix Leitch; a brother, Johnny Monroe Wells; and a sister, Mildred Snuggs.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service.
