Gary Lynn Burgess

Gary was born September 25th 1951 in Nashville TN to the parents of Garland O. Burgess and Virginia ‘Yvonne’ B. Burgess. Gary joined the U.S. Air Force and served 21 proud years. After he retired from the military he moved to Charlotte NC from Fayetteville NC.

Gary enjoyed working for many years at Citi Electric, in Charlotte NC, as a Stocks and Logistics Coordinator, until he retired.

Gary enjoyed reflecting on his years in the military, traveling, tending to his yard, being with friends & family, and caring for his wife Cynthia and their cats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland O. Burgess and Virginia ‘Yvonne’ B. Burgess. Along with his wife of 30 years, Angela F. Burgess, and son Brandon M. Burgess.

He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Cynthia Whitaker of Greenbrier TN; his sister Donna B. Nixon and her late husband Harold Nixon of Goodlettsville TN; his children Adam R. Burgess of Mint Hill NC and Chelsea Burgess of Rock Hill SC; his stepson Robert Whitaker and his wife Callie Whitaker of Goodlettsville TN; his niece Angela Whited and husband Eric Whited of White House TN; his nephew Chris Nixon, his wife Kristy Nixon and their children, of Greenbriar TN; his great nephew Travis Brown, his wife Anne Brown and their children, of White House TN; his great niece Jordan Keene, her husband Jeremy Keene and their children, of Cross Plains TN; his 2 grandchildren Russell and Ethan Burgess of Mint Hill NC; his step-granddaughter Aria Whitaker of Goodlettsville TN.

The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Saturday, the 28th of March, 2026 at McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West. A service to celebrate his life will be at 11:00 AM in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

Gary will be dearly missed by all!
