George Franklin Guy, 82, of Charlotte, passed away February 1, 2022 in Fort Mill, SC. Born January 10, 1940 in Charlotte, NC; he was the son of John F. and Mary E. (Menger) Guy. He married Linda Potts on June 2, 1961 in Charlotte.
A graduate of West Mecklenburg High School, George served his country in the U.S. National Guard. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and retired from Environamics, Inc. after 20 years of employment.
An avid UNC fan, George’s main passion was coaching girl’s softball for more 35 years. He also enjoyed playing basketball in high school and his collection of clocks, model trains and cars.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Linda Guy; daughters, Alesia (Darrell) Price, Georgia (Mark) Burns and Wendy (Mark) Wertz; grandchildren, Jordan Price, Alex (Madison) Burns, Steven (Ashleigh) Burns, Ryan (Jonathan) Pike and Tucker (Micayla) Griffin; step-grandchildren, Johnny and Nick Wertz; great-grandchildren, Stefan Britton, Corson Wertz, Breanna Edgerly and George “Sonny” Herbert; brothers, John (Thelda) Guy, David (Marla) Guy and Jack Guy; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Geraldine Singleton.
Memorial Service 11 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2022 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Visitation 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
