The Reverend George Thomas Story left his family and friends to join The Lord on April 1, 2016. He was born in Gates County, NC to James Wendell Story and Edna Earle Parker Story. In his 92 years on earth, his passion was to bring others to Christ. In preparation, he graduated from Bob Jones University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. As a Southern Baptist minister, he led churches in Texas, North and South Carolina. His longest tenure was at First Baptist Church, Clover, South Carolina. He later led a college business school and financed church building bond programs for many years. If anyone ever had a five minute conversation with him, they would be offered an opportunity to follow The Lord’s teachings and be saved. In retirement, he found joy in teaching Sunday School and leading Bible study classes. He loved hymns and found great comfort listening to his music while he studied the scripture. He loved his family, enjoyed telling a good joke, golfing and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents James Wendell Story and Edna Earle Parker Story, his younger brother Horace Story, Sister-in-law Frances, and niece Brenda Story. Rev. Story is survived by his son Mark Story (Tracy) and grandchildren, Allyson, Olivia, Andrew and James; daughter Judy Story Owen (Perry) and grandchildren Graham, Katie and Haynes; daughter Ruth Story (Cristal Doggett).
