Born May 23, 1948, in Iowa City, Iowa she was the daughter of the late James and Betty Collier of Ironton Ohio. She attended Ironton High School where she was the head majorette. Following graduation from High School, Gretchen attended Ohio University where she was a home coming queen candidate and where she met her husband Dr. Samuel J. Randall, III. This year they would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. After leaving Ohio University she worked as a flight attendant for Braniff airlines.
Samuel and Gretchen moved to Charlotte in 1977 where they have lived ever since. After raising her family Gretchen served as a Realtor/Broker in Charlotte for twenty years. Gretchen enjoyed painting, her plants, and playing tennis at Carmel Country Club.
The joy of Gretchen’s life was her family and dogs. She was an avid lover of animals was an active member of the Charlotte Humane society. She adored her husband Samuel who she married on October 26, 1968. Gretchen was a devoted mother and grandmother with four grandchildren. She also enjoyed her membership with her husband at Carmel Country club.
Gretchen is survived by her husband Dr. Samuel J. Randall, III; her two children Samuel J. Randall, IV and James Travis Randall; and her four beloved grandchildren Allie Randall, Samuel J. Randall, V, Brooke Randall and Luke Randall.
A receiving of friends for Gretchen will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
