

Jim is survived by his two children, Timothy Clontz and Sandra Killen; his grandchildren, Karen Cunningham, Jeff Clontz, Elizabeth Childers and Scott Killen; and three great-grandchildren, Sean Cunningham, Liam Cunningham, and Kenan Paulovits; as well as his brother, William Clontz. He will be forever remembered by his fellow employees at the U. S. Postal Service where he worked for 61 years.
The oldest son of H. James Clontz, Sr. and Wilma Davis Clontz, Jim was born and raised in Charlotte and entered the Navy in 1945 after high school graduation. After serving in the Navy for 3 years, he returned to Charlotte where he attended UNC-Charlotte and met the love of his life at Duke Power. He subsequently worked for the U. S. Postal Service until he retired at the age of 82.
Jim was a very involved father, serving as a Little League Baseball Coach. He taught his players the rules of the game, made them practice hard, and to be gracious in victory while being accepting of defeat. Jim loved the outdoors; he took his family fishing and camping on a regular basis. He was a loving and caring grandfather. Jim was a passionate sports enthusiast, following his beloved Atlanta Braves and UNC Basketball Team.
Jim was an avid reader of novels and most especially his Bible, which he literally read in its entirety multiple times. He was a long-term member of South Charlotte Baptist Church.
Family visitation will be at South Charlotte Baptist Church on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM with the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery will follow immediately.
