Hanh Khac Hoang, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, godfather, and devout Catholic, was tragically taken from this life on October 6, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on December 25, 1948, in Nghe An, Vietnam to Han Khac Hoang and Lieu Thi Nguyen.
Hanh proudly served in the South Vietnamese military during the Vietnam War. In 1971, he was discharged after losing his leg in combat. Though he lost a limb, he never lost his independence, strength, or determination. His courage and resilience were a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
On December 31, 1975, Hanh married his loving wife, Phuoc Thi Ngo. Together they built a strong, faithful life, raising six children with love, hard work, discipline, and deep devotion to God.
Before immigrating to the US, Hanh worked as a skilled carpenter. He took great pride in his craft, helping farmers, schools, churches, and families with his honest and durable work. His hands built not only furniture, but also trust and community wherever he went.
Hanh and Phuoc, together with family, moved to the U.S. in March of 2016, settling in Charlotte, NC. The family established roots in the Steele Creek area, becoming citizens of the United States and devout members of St Joseph’s Vietnamese Catholic Church.
Hanh was known for his simplicity, humility, honesty, positivity, and unwavering faith. Guided by God's love, he lived each day with gratitude and purpose, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. He found joy in life’s simple blessings — his family, his freedom, and quiet moments in his garden.
Hanh’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, perseverance, and grace. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
Hanh is preceded in death by: his father Han and mother Lieu; brothers Han, Phuc, Nam and sister Lan.
Hanh is survived by: his devoted loving wife of 50 years, Phuoc; 6 loving children (Loc/Lai Nguyen, Khanh Ngoc/Tien Nguyen, Tuong, Bich Ngoc/Thomas Han, Hong Ngoc/Thach Bui, Nhu Ngoc/Stace Berkland); 5 adorable grandchildren (Minh Anh, Quynh Anh, Duc Anh, Thien Nha, Dieu Linh); 2 brothers (Phong/Thao and Kim/Xuan); 3 sisters (Tuyet/Nang Nguyen, Duc/Bau Nguyen, Hoa/Nhan Chu) and dozens of cousins and relatives across Vietnam and the U.S.
