

Ruth Thomas Richardson. Mr. Richardson was in business for 45 years having owned and managed Carolina Lighting Supply, H & R Vending and Tommyknockers Sports Bar. Prior to starting his own business, Mr. Richardson work for the Charlotte Police Department and the F.B.I. He served in the Air National Guard and had attended Northside Baptist Church.
His company decorated downtown Charlotte with Christmas lights for many years and will be remembered as an honest, caring and giving man.
Mr. Richardson is survived his wife, Barbara Benfield Richardson; a daughter, Carrie Pennington and husband Terry, of Locust; a step-son, Daniel Russ and wife Sonja, of Concord; a sister, Patricia Holder and husband Ernie, of Charlotte; two grandsons, Joshua Beacham, Daniel Sheldon Russ; three sisters-in-law, Julie McCrary, Vickie Richardson, Sally Richardson and favorite pets, his dog Pretty Girl and cat Baby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dick Richardson, Jim Richardson and Bill “Snookie” Richardson.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, July 23rd at the Derita Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service with Rev. Barry Shearer, of Northside Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Beacham, Billy Smith, Robbie Sanderson, Bryant Howard, Rick Hancock and Rick Broome.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Friday, July22nd at the funeral home.
