Hazel E Steele

Hazel Christine Steele, 89 of Charlotte, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on January 2 at Presbyterian Hospital Harris Hospice Unit following an extended illness. Born in Wadesboro NC, she was the daughter of Loyd Boyd Evans and Clara Baker Evans. She is preceded in death by her sweet husband, George Stafford Steels; son,Jeffrey Clark Steele; sister, Ann Morris; brothers, Bill and Junior Evans. She was a beloved wife and mother. She worked many years for her husband’s business, Stafford Termite Pest Control and helped in taking care of her mother and son as well. She loved music, singing, and, golf. She loved her church, church family, and friends. She enjoyed eating out and made the best banana pudding in the world. Christmas was always a special time and she decorated every inch of her home not only for Christmas but birthdays and all holidays. Survivors include, Tony Steele and Mary Steele, Yvonne Brumley and Bobby Brumley, Georgia Burke and Danny Burke,; grandchildren, Tammy Byrum and Scott Byrum, Jimmy Brumley and Suzanne Brumley, David Steele and Shannon Steele, and Jerrell Brumley and Ginney Brumley, Kim Parker, and Kelly Cook; great-grandchildren, Christy Byrum, Michael Byrum, and Lexy Byrum, Ross Brumley, Peyton Brumley, Drake Brumley, and Jasmine Brumley, Piper Steele, Peyton, Megan, and Matthew, Logan Parker, Kayla Parker, and Kiley Parker, and Kendra Cook; great great-grandchildren, Haleigh Fontaine, Maddy Fontaine, Allana Long, and Mace Long; many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. The family would like to thank Charlotte Square for taking such great care of her during her stay there and making her feel welcome and loved. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 6, 2014 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with interment in Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions to Harris Hospice of Charlotte.
