

Charlotte - Mrs. Chappell died peacefully on May 4, 2015. She was born at Charlotte Presbyterian Hospital on July 11, 1920 to the late Ethel Severs Keistler and Joseph Lloyd Keistler of Charlotte, NC. She was the fourth generation of both the Severs and Keistler families of Charlotte.
Helen grew up in Wesley Heights and attended the local schools. She was a member of Wesley Heights Methodist Church and taught Sunday school there.
On September 3, 1943, she married Lt. Russell Ernest Chappell of the U.S. Army Air Corps. They were stationed at various places in the southeast, with their last assignment in Washington, D.C., where Major Chappell was posted at the Pentagon.
Mrs. Chappell served as president of the Henry C. Severs Chapter of the UDC, named for her great-grandfather, from May 1998 until the time of her death.
She joined Myers Park United Methodist Church in 1968 and remained active in her Sunday school class. In her 85th year, Helen visited the Holy Land; the trip of a lifetime.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Chappell Foskey and husband Randall Foskey of Williamsburg, VA; son, Gregory Ernest Chappell and wife Dena Chappell of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Amanda C. Norman and husband Stewart Norman, and Elizabeth C. Foskey; grandson, Scott Chappell of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Betty Keistler King and husband George D. King of Dunwoody, GA; and nephew, George D. King (Chip) and wife Melanie B. King of Mableton, GA, and their daughter, Amanda D. King, also of Mableton.
A private interment ceremony will take place at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
