Mrs. Lawrence, age 93, Charlotte passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at her residence.

She was born August 23, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late William and Helen Cassaday. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Russell G. Lawrence.

Mrs. Lawrence was a secretary at Central High School and Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC.

Lynne enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, reading, gardening and traveling. She had traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada and had visited countries such as Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. Her favorite and most cherished time was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Meredythe Gilliam and husband Bob; grandchildren, Ashlee Mullinax and husband Mark, Kyle Fisher and wife Leah and Jamie Fisher and significant other Tabitha Best; stepdaughters, Carolyn Dunnavant and husband Ed and Anne Blair and husband Scott; great granddaughter, Nadia Lynne Fisher; step great grandchildren, Allison and Hailey Mullinax and Wyatt Blair; Sister, Wilda “Billie” McLaughlin; and nieces, Barbara Fonner (Greg) and Maureen McLaughlin (Russ).

A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Monday, July 9, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends a half hour prior to the service at the funeral service.

The family would like to thank the staff of Presbyterian Hospice and Home Instead, her caregivers Jennifer, Jo, Fleta and Cindy; her private caregivers, Kim, Annie, baby Maddie and most especially Julie Jackson for their caring comfort, companionship, and dedication.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Hospice, 324 N. McDowell Street, Charlotte, NC 28207, Salvation Army or American Heart Association.
