

Herbert H. Lyles “Hub” entered his Heavenly Kingdom peacefully surrounded by family at dawn on March 11, 2014. Hub was born September 7, 1928 in Wilmington, NC. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Peggy; children Michael Lyles, Judy Allison( David), David Lyles (Patty); grandchildren Keith Allison (Angie), Lori Lyles Archer (Chris), Jeremy Allison (Christy), Greg Lyles, and six great grandchildren.
Hub served his country during WW II as both members of The Merchant Marines and the 82nd Airborne. Hub married the love of his life Peggy Hatley on August 11, 1949. Hub had a distinguished career in construction sales and was a member of many business organizations serving as President of Professional Estimators and as associate board member of AGC. Hub was involved in many civic groups. As a member of the North Mecklenburg Optimist Club, Hub was instrumental in starting Pop Warner football in Charlotte.
After retirement Hub continued using his leadership skills, serving with compassion and empathy as President of the Board of Directors for the McLeod Center. Hub will be remembered not only for his wit and love of people and life but for a unique ability to bring people together. All knew “Hub makes things happen”.
Services will be held March 13 at Sharon Baptist Church, 6411 Sharon Rd, at 2:00 pm, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
