

Born July 25, 1936 in New York City, he was a son of the late Herman Hoffman and Marian Hoffman. He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1954 and went to work in his father’s furniture store. He spent time in the National Guard
Howie was a devoted father, husband, brother and grandfather. He adored his wife, Emily Hoffman, whom he married on February 3, 1980. Before health issues affected his mobility, he loved to travel both here in the U.S. and overseas. He enjoyed reading, particularly books about history, playing card games, following current events and politics and the stock market.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Hoffman; his brother, Ted Hoffman; three children, Jeff Hoffman, Joel Hoffman and Abbey Freiberg; and nine grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Howie’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 9th in the Chapel at Hebrew Cemetery at 1801 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, North Carolina. Shiva will be observed and the family will receive friends following the service at the home of Emily Hoffman 2024 Vermount Way, Fort Mill, South Carolina.
