I just learned of Hugh’s passing and send sincere condolences to the entire family. Moving next to Hugh and Jeanette, I came to know one of the kindest neighbors....Hugh loved his home and garden and took such pride in caring for everything himself. He was a pleasure to speak to. Son, Hugh and I would meet and chat before COVID and he took such wonderful care of Mom, Jeanette. May Hugh Rest In Peace and the family know how much he was loved and respected.

The Lord has a new angel. Mr. HC Mitchum and my dad were, and will always be, my mentors. Family, Faith, Hard Work, Honesty, and always others before yourself!. No excuses, no exceptions. These are the lessons that I learned from Dad and Mr. HC Mitchum JR. Always by observing their actions, never just idle talk. If dad or Mr. Mitchum promised anyone anything they delivered. Not under duress but with a smile and a helping hand. They are and will always be the standard I fail to reach everyday. However, just like Mr. Mitchum and my dad would say.."Son stop your whining, and get to work!!"

If all goes well for me, I hope to be able to cut this gentleman's grass in heaven. Hugh you are the brother I never had and I love you dearly. See you soon. Keep the Faith!!

We are so glad to have known Hugh and be able to call him a friend. He was a true gentleman and one of the most kind and caring Christians. We know that everyone who knew him will surely miss him as we will .

I am so sorry to see this news about Hugh. We moved from the neighborhood last summer......Hugh was a great conversationalist and I remember how often he walked the neighborhood, and especially loved his flowers by the driveway.
