Hy was born to Meilic and Pepia Spectorman in Romania on December 1, 1928. He was naturalized as a U.S. Citizen on July 8, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY. Prior to that, as a young man, he fled Romania with his parents during the Nazi holocaust and located to Tel Aviv. From there Hy ran an underground system to slip Eastern European Jews into Israel. The Nazi slaughter was called the Iasi Pogrom and resulted in the murder of at least 13,300 Jews. Services will be private. He might be remembered as something of a hero of Jewish European history.
