

Jack N. Bowie, 76, of Charlotte went home to be with Jesus on July 14, 2015. He was born June 26, 1939 in Auburn, ME. Jack proudly served his country in the Air Force Reserves. Jack moved to Charlotte in 1968 to pursue his career as a chemist. Jack was very active at the Pineville Church of the Nazarene where he served on the official church board, choir, coached men’s and women’s softball. He headed the Quiz Team, served as a youth leader, and served on both the hospitality and welcome committees. He was also very active in the senior’s Sunday School class. Jack enjoyed spending time at his beach home “Jack’s Folly” but most of all he loved his family and especially his role as Papa to Savannah.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Emily Bowie, daughter Christi (Andrew) Heacock, granddaughter Savannah, his adopted family John and Laura Oshel and their two children Kenedie and Luke: siblings Nancy Samson, Sharon Strout, Deborah Gosselin, and Douglas Bowie. A visitation reception will be held at McEwen Pineville Chapel on Friday, July 17, from 7-9 pm. A second visitation will be held at Pineville Church of the Nazarene at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 18 followed by a 2:00pm funeral service. Burial will follow at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
