He was born and grew up in Mecklenburg County and was the son of the late Jay and Winnie Alexander Bumgardner. He served active duty in the US Navy during WWII, re-enlisted, and served active duty in the Korean War. He was retired from Yellow Freight Carriers where he worked on the docks.
Jack was an avid sports fan. He adored his family and was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and proud veteran.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Yvonne Hargett Bumgardner; son, Jack Bumgardner, Jr.; daughters, Vanessa Smith (Randy) and Holli Duke; grandchildren, Kimberly Broome (Josh), Andrew Smith, Hunter Duke, Cody Duke and Jay Bumgardner (Brittany); great-grandchildren, Gavin Broome and Aubrey Bumgardner.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later time.
