

Born July 17, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Eulitt was son of the late Everett and Mary McCusker Eulitt. Graduating from Calumet High School in Chicago, IL, he attended Illinois Institute of Technology receiving a BS in Chemical Engineering and then the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. receiving a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Mr. Eulitt, spent 57 years with Penn Mutual Life Insurance holding distinctions as CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, CFP, REBC, RHU, CASL, RFC and FLMI, and awarded the Underwriter of the Year in 2002. He was a 35-year qualifier of the Million Dollar Round Table and received many National Sales and Quality Achievement awards including the Edmund L. Zalinski Distinguished Service Award from the National Life Underwriters Training Council. The NC Insurance Association of Financial Advisors and the Charlotte Association of Financial Advisors established a Professional Development and Service Award respectively in his name.
Mr. Eulitt was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and served time as Financial Committee Chairman and Scout Troop Master. He was involved in the Mecklenburg Council of the Boy Scouts of America for 50 years and received the St. George and Silver Beaver Awards. Mr. Eulitt was also a 50 year member of Charlotte’s Southern Lions Club and served as one of their Presidents.
His military career included service in the US Naval Reserve from 1944-1966 retiring as LT and in the US Maritime Service from 1944-1953 attaining the rank of CMDR. He also held US Coast Guard Merchant Marine licenses as Third to Chief Engineer from 1946-1994.
Jack enjoyed stamp and coin collecting. He loved playing chess and had recently joined the Charlotte Chess Club.
Mr. Eulitt is survived by his wife, Betty Allen Eulitt; and six children, Paul Ward Eulitt (Sherry) of Ellicott City, MD, Mary Ellen McDonald (Bruce) of Charlotte, Madeleine "Mayde" Lowery (Guy) of Mont Belvieu, TX, Mary Mercedes Eulitt of Rosamond, California, Ward Maynard Eulitt of Charlotte, and Luke Matthew Eulitt of Spring, TX.
Also surviving are four step children, Andrea A. Huffman (Keith) of Charlotte, Robert M. Allen, Jr. (Debbie) and Edmund Lawrence Allen (Lisa), all of Stanfield, and Pamela Allen Taylor (Terry) of Charlotte; as well as six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, fourteen step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Roderick Eulitt and John Charles Eulitt.
A celebration of Mr. Eulitt’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26th at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Private interment, with military honors, will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. Mr. Eulitt’s family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 25th at Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road.
