Born in Winston Salem the 20th of August 1929, he moved to Charlotte as a teenager and attended Charlotte Central High School and NC State University. He served in the military in Europe in the 1950’s where he met his wife, Sally. He was president of Doughton Mfg Co.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife Sally, his son Jimi, his daughter Aimee, his grandsons James, Matthew and Harry Blumsom, his daughter Sally and two granddaughters Devin and Kinsey Alexander and his sister Hervey Martin of Winston Salem.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2pm on the 6th of April at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte.
