

Born in Harnett County, NC, on November 10, 1931, he was the son of the late James Dewey Painter and Myrtle Ann Young Painter. Also preceding him in death was his beloved wife, Mary Stancil Painter.
Mr. Painter served in the Marine Corp and was a distinguished Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from General Electric as Vice President after 38 years of service. He was Elder Emeritus, Paw Creek Presbyterian Church; President of the Synod of NC Men’s Council (1969); President of the Men of Mecklenburg Presbytery (1970), and a Sunday School teacher.
His hobbies included carpentry, electrical, and appliance repair and gardening.
Surviving are his daughters, Teresa Painter; Belinda Painter Springs and husband, Stan; grandchildren, Kristy Springs Featherstone and husband, Josh; Renee Springs Huffstickler and husband, Rob; great-grandchildren, Logan and Collin Featherstone and Aubree Huffstickler; sisters, Jo Campbell and Myrtle Painter Pake and husband Denny; nieces, Penny Campbell Eason and Charlotte Pake Walton.
Services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church with Reverend Gary Bryant officiating. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:30 until 3:20 PM.
