

James (Jim) Burnham Walsh, born on July 14, 1940, in Oak Park, Illinois, the second of nine children, passed away peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
James lived a full and well-traveled life, residing in numerous locations including Chicago, St. Louis, New York, Kansas City, Connecticut, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Charlotte. He attended Villanova University. Some report that he majored in business, but others remember that his major was "partying." He proudly served in the Army National Guard and had a successful professional career, working for General Electric, Akzo, and other firms before transitioning into commercial real estate with Meca Properties.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Igoe Walsh; his three devoted sons, James, Gregory, and Brian; and his six cherished grandchildren, Blake, Brendan, Miranda, Simon, Elliot, and Henry Walsh.
A service to celebrate James’s life will be held at St. Gabriel's Church, 3016 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211 on Thursday, November 6th at 11:00 am.
