

Jane Eargle Chapman
Jane Eargle Chapman, 84, passed away on January 5, 2016. She was born in Mecklenburg County on July 25 1931, the last surviving child of Minnic Luther Eargle and Blanche Shealy Eargle. She was a lifelong resident of the Derita Community.
Jane graduated from Derita High School and Western Carolina University, majoring in Music. Jane was the organist at Cole Memorial United Methodist Church, retiring in 1986.
Jane was a lifelong member at Cole Memorial United Methodist Church. United Methodist Women was an important part of her church life, and she enjoyed the 3-n-1 Circle. Later in her life she was a member of the Open Door Class. She enjoyed being outside and working in her yard.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Raeford Linzy Chapman. They were married for 48 years until his passing in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Carolyn, M.L., Glenn, Nancy, Bill, Max, and Cartha.
Surviving are nieces and nephews: Shelia and Jerry Rogers, Billy and Debbie Eargle, Kathy and Wilbert Mitchell, Brenda and David Fowler, Mick and Renita Eargle, Morgan and Lena Lee, and Graham and Dwayne Glover.
Great nieces and nephews: Lassity, Lauren and Dusty, Mickey and Lindsay, Jennifer and Chase, Thomas, Amanda, Sarah, Jake, Anna, Marissa, Michael, Hayden, Chapman, Noah, and Catherine.
She also has 5 great-great nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends may visit from 11am to 12pm Saturday, January 9, 2016 @ McEwen Derita Chapel, followed by a procession to Sharon Memorial Park for a 1pm graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
