

Janet DeAndrea Bertrand died peacefully at her home on January 30, 2025. Janet was born on December 17, 1942 to William Vito DeAndrea and Grace Brulgia DeAndrea in Port Chester NY the youngest of ten siblings. She graduated from Port Chester High School in 1960. She married John J Bertrand Jr on October 10, 1965 at St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in White Plains NY and were looking forward to celebrating their 60th anniversary this year. She had several secretarial jobs one of the first at Homelite. She spent the last 20 years of her career working for the White Plains Public School District. She was always active in her children’s lives as class mother, volunteering with the Boy and Girl Scouts, making fantastic homemade Halloween costumes for them. She was an active member in the community as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary for the Valhalla Fire Company. She lived with her family in Valhalla NY and shortly after retiring she and her husband moved to Charlotte NC. She was a volunteer at Atrium Health Pineville for 20 years and was very active at the Tyvola Senior Center where she taught crochet. Her and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Janet was well known for her joke telling, cooking, talented crocheting, kindness and generosity, always the life of the party. She most enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter Kaitlyn and teaching her how to cook her famous meatballs. She is survived by her husband John, son John J Bertrand III (Shirley), daughter Helen Bertrand (Dennis Davis), granddaughter Kaitlyn Faith Bertrand and Kaitlyn’s mother Kelly Lang Bertrand. She is predeceased by her parents and nine siblings.
