Mrs. Bates, age 100, passed away December 12, 2012, at Wilora Lake at the Cove. She was born January 10, 1912, in Pensacola, FL. Mrs. Dearmon Bates attended nursing School at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. She met and married Ben DeArmon and moved to Charlotte in 1937. She worked as a nurse at Charlotte Memorial and Wesley Methodist Home. She was preceded in death her husband Ben DeArmon and her daughter Celia Patricia DeArmon. Surviving are her sons, Benjamin DeArmon and John DeArmon , five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2:30 PM, Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, 101 Sugar Creek Road West, Charlotte, NC 28213.
