Jewell M. Silcox

She was born on Sept. 27, 1922, in Bridgeport, Illinois, to Raymond Earl Sanders and Edna Saxton French Sanders.

She graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1941.

Jewell married Robert Charles Smith on Apr. 4, 1942, in St. Charles, MO. Mr. Smith passed away in Aug. 1970. In Sept. 1971, she married Thomas Silcox in Clinton, PA. Mr. Silcox died in Feb. 2003.

She regularly attended the Uptown Church in Charlotte

Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Cole (John), Fort Mill, SC, and Jo Ann Smith (Pat White) Saluda, NC; brother-in-law, Edward B. Smith (Shirley), Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Sandra Lee Sanders, Texas City, TX; four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Her memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in the Uptown Church, 926 Elizabeth Ave., Suite 200, Charlotte. Rev. Dr. Tom Hawkes will officiate. A reception in the church café will take place following her service.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Merrill Ray Sanders and Joe Victor Sanders.
