Joan Boyd Beatty

Born October 6, 1935 in Danville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Grace Gilbert Boyd. Joan was a graduate of Schoolfield High School in Danville and continued her education at Stratford College.

She married Guy Edward Beatty, Jr. in 1955 and they later moved to Charlotte where they raised their three children – Lynne, John and Trey. Joan worked and retired from Celanese where she was employed in the Accounting Department.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her sons, John Frederick Beatty and his wife, Alida, and Guy Edward Beatty, III (Trey); and her granddaughters, Madelyn Joy Beatty and Annaka Grace Beatty.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Lynne Denise Beatty.

A service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5th in the chapel of Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Road. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. A committal service will be held at noon Friday at Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA.
