

John Stephen (Steve or Beau) Basinski began his final journey on April 2, 2016, following a sudden illness. Steve was born in Flint, Michigan on October 1, 1942. His early education was completed at St. John Vianney in Flint, Michigan. He graduated High School in 1960 and received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Marketing at Michigan State University.
Steve’s successful career allowed him to travel the world, while living in Germany, England, Florida, and Chicago. Steve and his wife Catherine (Poochie) finally settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. Steve held positions at American Oil, Cessna Aircraft Company, and Bendix Avionics. He finished his diversified career in Charlotte by providing valuable counseling as a personal strategy coach to individuals seeking to advance or change their own career paths. Steve loved to provide guidance to family, friends, and clients.
His many interests included traveling with his wife, playing golf, and shore fishing at the ocean. Steve was a great story teller, had a fantastic sense of humor, and loved hosting parties and entertaining family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland (Whitey) and Amy Basinski. He leaves behind his wife- Poochie, of 18 years; son- Brett of Jupiter, FL; daughter - Dawne (husband - Zach) Bunn of Nashville, TN; step sons - Chris (wife - Joy) of Atlanta, GA, and Pat Seely of Fort Collins, Colorado. Grandpa Beau will be missed by Max, Carter, Addison, and Olivia. His siblings include Michael (wife – Marie) of Phoenix; Mary Major of Orlando, FL; Sue Graves of Concord, NC; Tony of Grand Blanc, MI; Barbara of Canton, MI; Jeff (wife – Lisa) of Grand Blanc, MI, and 5 nieces and nephews.
Steve (Beau) was an amazing husband, father, brother, son, and friend who provided endless guidance, love, humor, and nurturing to all who knew him. He most valued the time he could spend with friends and family. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed.

A Mass in Steve’s honor will be held on April 6th at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas, 1400 Suther Rd., Charlotte, NC 28213.
