John Doyle Isley, 87, of Charlotte, NC passed away on December 12, 2025. Born August 8, 1938 in Greeneville, TN, he was the son of the late John and Cloie Miranda (Gass) Isley. He married the late Frances Church Isley on November 12, 1959 in Morristown, TN.
He was an avid fisherman along with his wife, John enjoyed electrical & mechanic work and ‘fixing things’, spending time fishing at the beach, and time with family and his great-grandsons. John was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving honorably in the Infantry Division from March 1955 until February 1958, including a deployment to Germany.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Roger Sr.) Brackett; granddaughter, Crystal Dowell; great-grandsons, Austin and Landon Dowell.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; sisters Viola, Irene, and Evadale; brother Verlin Dale.
A visitation for John will be held Friday, December 19th, 2025 from 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM in the chapel of McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC.
