Jay began his career with Westinghouse, now Siemens, in East Pittsburgh as an engineer in the 1970's. When the Westinghouse facility in East Pittsburgh closed in the 1980's, Jay managed the transfer of the generator electrical components product line to the plant in Fort Payne, Alabama. He then left Westinghouse to pursue his own business in home inspections. He returned to the company, now Siemens, in 2001 in Charlotte, NC as a Generator Service Project Management Specialist, servicing the generators he supported manufacturing in the '70's. Most recently Jay had the cost estimating role for generator service.
Jay was always willing to share his extensive knowledge and experience with colleagues and hosted numerous factory tours for customers, industry groups, and training classes. He was always willing to drop whatever he was doing to help anyone. His confidence, energy, and expertise often helped others to succeed.
Outside of the office, Jay maintained his Professional Engineering License and enjoyed working around the house. He volunteered for STEM outreach visits to local schools and for Habitat for Humanity. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, often taking cruises with friends. Online condolences to the family may be offered at www.mcewenpinevilechapel.com.
