

Mr. Efird, 61, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on August 3, 2010 at CMC-Main. He was born on October 19, 1948 in Charlotte, a son of the late Joseph Bivens Efird, Jr. and Susan Scott Efird.
Biv spent 2 years at Wingate College and then joined the Navy Reserve in 1969. He spent 2 years active duty in the Azores and then 4 years back in Charlotte in the reserves. He worked for his father, Joseph Bivens Efird, Jr. at Brown Grease Gun during this time. He moved to Houston, Texas in 1976 and worked for Global Services as a Senior Tech Supervisor for over 20 years. Biv and his wife Cindy moved back to Charlotte in 2007 due to his illness. During this time he enjoyed working with his sister Janet in her pet sitting business.
Biv enjoyed horses and was a horse trainer in his younger years. He loved sailing and spending time with close friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh and telling stories.
He is survived by his wife Cindy; sisters, Nancy Efird McCullough and husband Thomas McCullough, their son Nicholas Scott McCullough, Janet Efird Pearce and husband, Jimmy Derek Pearce, and their son Jason Derek Pearce, all of Charlotte; and many cousins and life- long friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Harry & Bryant Company, “Chapel in the Oaks”, with the Reverend Ron Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11-11:45 prior to the service.
