Kenneth Charles Brown (known as Kenny by family and friends) was born on January 20, 1942 to the union of the late Clyde Kenneth and Alma Brown in the Bronx, New York. Kenneth was the fourth oldest child of his seven siblings, he has three brothers Kenneth Clyde Jr, Raymond (deceased), Eric and four sisters: Juanita Bowmen, Elfriede Edwards, Renee Brown, and Karen Brown (deceased).
Kenneth was Baptized when he was a youngster when living at 414 East 170th Street in the Bronx. When the family moved to 1478 Vyse Avenue, he attended St. John Catholic Church. When he was about nine years old, he had his 1st Holy Communion at that church.
Kenneth attended Clara Barton Elementary School (P.S. 50). After graduating from there he went to Herman Ritter Junior High School (J.H.S 98). The high school he attended and graduated from was James Monroe.
Kenneth dedicated 32 years of service to the New York City Police Department and retired as a Detective in 2000. Later joining Miami Dade Police Department as a background investigator.
The joy of Kenneth’s life was his family. He adored his wife, Mary McDaniels whom he married October 20, 1990. He was also a devoted father and grandfather who attended all school and sports activities, cheering fiercely at every event.
Kenneth joined Sweet Home Baptist Church in Miami Florida in 2012 and was a devoted member in his Sunday School class and the men’s ministry.
Kenneth joined Pineville Church in 2019 and served in the food pantry and the recovery ministry.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary McDaniels-Brown, son Kendall Robert Brown of Tampa Florida, Lamarr Brown of Long Island New York, Nicole Walker of Miami Florida, Michael Brown of Pennsylvania, Vaughn Brown of Colorado & Tanya Peck of Baltimore Maryland, 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and a host of brothers in law & sisters in law, nieces, and nephews.
A service to celebrate Kenneth's life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the Pineville Church – 8614 Pineville Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. The family will receive friends following the service.
