A native of Breckinridge County, Kentucky, Mr. Mattingly was born to the late James Earl Mattingly and Bessie Harper Mattingly on April 12, 1923. He retired from Charlotte Pipe and Foundry after 35 years of service. Mr. Mattingly loved NASCAR and the Kentucky Wildcats. He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Mattingly.
Mr. Mattingly is survived by his daughter, Sue Owens of Henderson, KY; sister, Pauline Henning of Hardinsburg, KY; brother, William Mattingly of Belmont, NC; grandson, Jeff Owens of Henderson, KY; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Maxwell Owens and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 2:00p.m., Wednesday, February 1 in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Dr., Charlotte. The family will receive friends 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m., Tuesday, January 31 at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte.
