Lonnie R. Gross, 65, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte surrounded by close friends and family. He was born in Mecklenburg County on October 30, 1949 to the late Laura Lee Robinson Gross and Melvin George Gross. Lonnie lived life to the fullest up until the time of his passing.
He was a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School as well as UNC Charlotte. He served in the Army National Guard. As a native Charlottean, he loved everything about the city and was a huge Panthers fan.
Survivors left to cherish Lonnie’s memory include his sister Janet Lee Gross Baker and her husband Mac Baker; niece Christie Baker Griffee and nephews Kyle Baker and Chase Baker, all of Atlanta, GA.
In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by a sister Sandra Elaine Gross.
A graveside service to celebrate Lonnie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 officiated by Rev. Ralph Kraft.
