Though unexpected, she was surrounded by her family in her last peaceful moments. Lora made the choice to donate life and her gift has impacted at least 3 people.
Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Lora was a proud graduate of South Stanly High School (Class of 1984) and earned her Associate’s degree from Central Piedmont Community College in 1990. It was at Central Piedmont, within the Graphic Arts Department, that Lora met her beloved husband, Michael Blom, and instantly fell in love.
Lora and Michael were married on September 2, 1989, at St. Mary's Chapel in uptown Charlotte, starting their fairytale life together. They began their family in Charlotte and later settled in Fort Mill, where they lovingly raised their two daughters, Amanda and Faith.
A gifted and creative spirit, Lora’s talents were many. She was a dedicated crafter who loved working with her hands, a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother. Lora cherished the simple moments in life and never took a single moment for granted. One of her favorite sayings was, "it's the little things". She enjoyed traveling extensively with her family throughout the United States and Europe, always documenting their adventures with her camera. Her laughs lit up even the darkest rooms and she was a bright beam of sunshine on a rainy day. She was also well-known for her diligent and elaborate yearly Halloween yard displays, which were adored by neighbors and friends.
Lora was preceded in death by her loving parents, Hobert and Meralyn Meadows. She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Michael Blom; her cherished daughters, Amanda Buchanan-Blom(Amanda) and Faith Blom; her brothers, Jeff Meadows(Kim), and Steven Meadows(Cynthia); her nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive friends and family for a visitation at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at McEwen Funeral Service and Chapel, at 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28210.
A Celebration of Lora's Life will begin at 1:00 PM in the McEwen Chapel. Graveside service will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Road, Rock Hill, SC.
The family extends their deepest gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of support and love during this difficult time.
