Mamie Burdette Deese

Mrs. Deese, age 92, of Charlotte, died September 4, 2011. Born on July 21, 1919 in Lincolnton, GA, she was the daughter of Charles Cullen Burdette and Mamie Adelaide McMahan.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice Annette Deese Young Born and her husband Jim, a son, Larry Keith Deese and his wife Regina, and a daughter Althea Ruth Deese Hayes and her husband Gregg. Grandchildren are Harvey Reese Young, Jr. (Jenniffer), Deborah Annette Young James (Bryant), Daphne Michelle Deese Olsson (Mikka), Appy Gayle Hayes Beemer (Duane), and Loren Gregg Hayes (Rachel).

Great-grandchildren are Emma Annette Young, Olivia Grace Young, Minea Ansley Olsson, Taven Lars Ebbe Olsson, Selah Annise Olsson, and Chance Walker Hayes.

She is also survived by a brother Jefferson B. Burdette, 96, of Decatur, GA; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews from the Deese, Burdette, and Collins families, as well as countless friends.

Mamie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Thomas Caudle Deese, her parents, brothers: John Burdette (Eva), George Burdette, and Charles Burdette( Nellie), sisters: Nellie Burdette Deese (Seborn), Lucy Mae Burdette Deese (James D.), daughter-in-law Anna Gentry Deese, nephews George Leander Collins, Leonard Deese and nieces Ethel Gillespie, Frances Ellis and Joyce Deese.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC. A service to celebrate her life will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
