Mark Sheridan Baldwin, 78 of Charlotte, NC, passed away after a courageous fight on January 28, 2026, and to everyone who knew and loved him, the world feels a little emptier (and a lot less colorful) without him in it. Born in Chicago, he grew up in Delray Beach, Florida. He devoted his life to his family, his large group of friends, and service- first to his country and then, to his community. Mark was known for his great hugs, warm handshakes, sense of humor, large collection of Hawaiian shirts, and for never having met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine, who he lovingly called Kate; her children who he raised as his own; daughter Kim and son Chris; brother Glenn and wife Marie; nephew Matthew and wife Emily; niece Dana and husband Joe; his dear Uncle Paul and wife Jalayne; seven grandchildren, and five great- grandchildren. Mark was preceded in death by his mother Jeanne Sevigny; father Bill Baldwin and wife Margot; and his daughters Michelle and April.
Mark lived a life of service to others. As his friends would say, "He talked the talk, and walked the walk." In lieu of flowers, and in his honor, consider paying it forward to someone in need, donating food to a local pantry, rescuing a stray animal, or picking up the phone to let someone know they are loved. In his words, "Just be the best version of yourself you can be."
As he would say at the close of every conversation, "Peace and love".
