

Marshall F. Ruppe was born on September 7, 1931 in Gaffney, South Carolina and passed away on November 24, 2014 in Salisbury , North Carolina at W. G. Hefner VA Medical Center. He was married to Annie Lou Hammett on June 30, 1951. Mr. Ruppe served in the United States Army from January 4, 1952 until July 31, 1954. Wounded in the Kumwau Valley, Korea on April 19, 1953, he earned both a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his heroic efforts, among many other service medals and awards, during his military career. Later, he was employed as Assistant Clerk of the Superior Court of Mecklenburg County and served in that position for more than 21 years. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, served as Deacon from September 1972 until November 1975 and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 737 and was a Master Mason. Preceded in death by son, David R. Ruppe; parents, Silas Fitzhugh and Lou Della Harris Ruppe; brothers, Raymond “Buck”, R.F. “Pete”, and Walmer Ruppe; sisters, Ruby Thrift, Katie Ruppe, Ruth Thrift, Bertie Thomas, Lou Erie Kirby, and Lemuel Nahaffey. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annie Lou Ruppe; and son, Stanley M. Ruppe. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 30, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Mcewen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte NC 28212. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chris Baucom officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
