Mrs. Eddens, age 97, of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, March 29 at Sardis Oaks Nursing Home. She was born on January 30, 1916, in Union County, NC, daughter of the late Charles W. and Margaret Gordon Smith. Mrs. Eddens lived by "The Golden Rule," do unto others as you would have them do to you. The family will receive friends starting at 1:30 P.M. Monday, April 1, 2013, at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212, with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 P.M. in Sharon Memorial Park conducted by Pastor David Lee. She is survived by her son, Tom Eddens and wife Beth of Ft. Mill, SC; a daughter, Peggy Eddens of Charlotte;, brother, Bobby Smith of Ft. Mill, SC; two sisters, Margie Hamilton of Ft. Mill, SC, Doris Helms of Monroe, NC; three grandchildren, Matt, Erin and Paige Eddens; and numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank all of her caregivers at Sardis Oaks.
