

Mary E. Porter Williams-Davis, 84, of Steele Creek in Charlotte, NC, went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 13, 2011, at CMC-Pineville after a courageous battle with ALS. She was born on December 9, 1927, to Hubert and Helen Holland Porter of Charlotte, NC. She graduated from Berryhill High School in the class of 1944 and Queens Business School. Mary was a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed her family, quilting, sewing, and Bible study. She was an active member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved first husband of 45 years, Bonsal H. Williams and her son, David B. Williams. Mary was also happily married for 13 years to Andrew James Davis, who passed away this past Easter. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Neely Porter and sister, Jessie Adeline Porter.
Mary is survived by her 5 children and their spouses: Sandra & Larry Hamilton of Belmont, Beverly Gaddis of Stanley, Karen Davis of Salisbury, Bonnie& Michael Barber of Cumming, GA, and Michael & Donna Williams of Matthews; 14 grandchildren: Josh, Aaron, Kristen, Becky, Lisa, Trevor, Jared, Gray, Shawn, Mary, Brittany, Tyler, Lexie, and Alex; 4 great-grandchildren: also stepson and wife, Jim & Carol Davis of Clover, SC; step grandchildren: Angela, Kathy, Jennifer, Susanne, Stephen, Ginny and Andy; and 9 step great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her beloved foster sister Phyllis Brown Thomas and her children.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 15th from 7-9 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. A memorial service for residents will be held at Lake Wylie Retirement Community on Thursday, December 15th at 2 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church at 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28278 on Friday, December 16th at 3 p.m. with a one hour visitation being held prior to the service. The Reverend Valerie Phillips will officiate. Interment will follow at Steele Creek Cemetery.
