She was born on November 23, 1953, in Charlotte, NC.
She was a 1972 graduate of West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte.
Myrtle worked for over 20 years with Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church preschool. She also worked in the family business, Cornette Iron Works.
She was preceded in death by her parents J.G. and Betty Capps.
Myrtle is survived by her husband of 53 years, Milton Cornette; children, Adrian Cornette (Jennifer), Ryan Cornette (Lisa) and Cheryl Cornette Arifin (Felix); grandchildren, Philip Cornette (Macayla), Olivia Wilson (Landon) and Logan Cornette; a great-granddaughter, Amelia Cornette.
There will be a receiving of friends at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 19, 2026, followed by a memorial service, at 3:30 pm in the sanctuary of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 1915 Oakdale Road, Charlotte, NC 28216, officiated by Beverly Parker-Reece.
