Odell High School and joined the U.S. Army to honorably defend our nation in World War II. Mr. Weaver was truly a member of America’s Greatest Generation and courageously served in the 242nd Infantry Rainbow Division liberating concentration camps and aiding in efforts to end the war in France, Germany, and Austria. After multiple promotions in the line of fire he was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant in 1946, having received, among others, the EAME Service Award with one Bronze Star. He furthered his education at the collegiate level studying American Literature and Animal Biology at Zell Am See, Austria, with the U.S. Army. He continued his call of duty for many years as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a devoted member of Commonwealth United Methodist Church where, over six decades, he served as a youth leader, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and member of the United Methodist Men. After his retirement, Mr. Weaver joined the Sons of the American Revolution, furthering his dedication to family and country. During his years of retirement, he delighted in following his grandchildren’s budding interests in art, golf, tennis, music, academic excellence, and faith. He also enjoyed many years of travel with his family.
On October 23, 1954, Mr. Weaver married the love of his life Margery Sue Garmon of Charlotte who survives him. Together they raised three children: Dr. John Wayne Weaver (Catherine Carter) of High Point; Donna Lynn Weaver Sawyer (Richard W.
