While Lynne only met Pat on a few occasions, I had the pleasure of knowing her for all these many years.  I have such fond memories of our family time together when we were growing up.  She was always such a shining light of love, fun , warmth and generosity.   God be with you.

I am so saddened to hear about the passing of Mrs. Munn. I have been her mail carrier for the past 10 years. I did not see her too often, but when I did, she always slowed her car down and gave me a bright smile and a big wave. I became great friends of Melinda and Alan and was always happy to drive off road onto the Munn farm to deliver packages. I would always just blow the horn on the mail truck. And Melinda would run right out. Often times, I was rewarded with some squash, beans, or zucchini from their bountiful garden. Those Munns could really grow a garden! I would often see neighbors coming over to collect vegetables that were always offered. So amazing that right in the heart of the booming metropolis of Charlotte, there sat the Munn farm, complete with a pond! I’m so sad to see that Mrs. Munn has passed so  soon after she moved into independent. living. My sincere condolences to the entire family. I will never forget any of you and I will remember you fondly. ❤️🙏❤️

Show and the Great Okefenokee Swamp for alligator watching on the way to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on a trip I’d won at a Disney movie showing. Mom and Dad went with Claire and I to London and Paris. Mom and Dad, Alaine, Satie and I went to Cancun twice for snorkeling and to Tulum for rafting through a cenote. Mom, Dad, Leslie, Tricia, Alaine, Satie and I went to Napoli Key, Maui for snorkeling, learned how to dance the Hula, luau feasts, and a helicopter ride over Maui. Tricia and I took an all-day bicycle tour down the entire Mount, Haleakala. We went to the Fair every year, but our favorite show was the Medieval Festival Fairs just north of Charlotte where Alaine and Satie got to ride a camel and an elephant and Dad and I got to throw axes.

 We cried. He said it was good for us, but he never cooked food again. We always sat down for family dinner almost every night, always prepared by Mom. She was involved in our schools, baking cookies for the class for any of us kid’s birthday parties and she taught my cub scout group for two years. She also enjoyed her garden club that she was a member of for 20 years. Mom worked at Wachovia Bank until we children started showing up and then we were her full-time job. As I entered high school, she resumed working as head teller for Wachovia Bank in Charlotte, NC. She rarely ever drank alcohol and never smoked cigarettes. She never let the boys have long hair even though that was the rage during the 1970’s. She took me to the barber despite my protesting. He all but shaved my head. I was so mad that I wouldn’t ride in the car with my mom and stormed 5 miles back home. Mom sold real estate while we were in junior and senior high school to afford to keep us in private school. Mom and Dad spent most New Year’s Eve nights with their good friends Bill and Dibbi Shotwell. The Shotwells were also members of Carmel Country Club. Their children Billy, Deedee and Bob Shotwell were our swim/golf buddies. During the summer, Mom would drop us off at Carmel at 7:30 AM weekdays for swim team practice, tennis lessons, golf lessons, teen-room Bridge card games and cheeseburgers for lunch. Friday nights were Teen nights at Carmel, and we stayed there for the Band they might provide or jukebox dancing. Carmel provided great summers for the kids and a convenient babysitter for Mom.
Mom was always ready to travel even with five children. We went on family beach trips each summer, even when some of us had our own children. When we were younger, we went to Gatlinburg, Tweetsie railroad, Maggie Valley, Chimney Rock with Hickory Nut Falls river swimming, the Outer Banks in a Winnebago (and left Leslie behind at a gas station at one stop) and toured Weeki Wachee in Florida for the Mermaid Sho

My mother, Patricia Eastburn Munn, was born in Denmark, South Carolina on November 2, 1931. Mom met Eleanor Roosevelt at a West Point tea dance party one afternoon when she was accidentally introduced to Mrs. Roosevelt. They thought that Mom was President Eisenhower’s daughter-in-law. Mrs. Roosevelt was very gracious and patted Mom’s hand. She was always family-centric and a fierce defender of her husband and children. Mom always showed up for our basketball games, music recitals, and swim meets. And there were a lot of them. She would arise at 5:30 AM every morning to cook a full breakfast of eggs, bacon, grits (or pancakes or boxed cereal) and toast for our family. One day, when I was in my fifties and complaining about getting up early, I told Mom that I wished that I liked getting up early like she did. She looked at me and said: “I hate getting up early”. But she did so, every day, over decades for our family. She made sure all 5 children were dressed, had a lunch packed (or money to buy lunch at the school cafeteria) and made it to school or church on time. She gave me a nickel extra a couple times a week so that I could buy a 5-cent stamp and add it to a savings bond stamp book. When I was 10 yo, I used that savings bond stamp book to open my first checking account at Wachovia. Opening balance was $18.64. Mom also taught kindergarten at Myers Park Methodist church. One school day, Mom took a black snake to the class for Nature Day. The snake wriggled out of the box to the delighted screams of the children. Since the janitor said: “He wouldn’t touch no snake”, it was left up to Mom and the other teacher to corner the snake and wrangle it back into the box, Mom has never touched another snake since, even though we often kept snakes we’d catch as pets. My father never learned to cook. He tried while Mom was in the hospital giving birth to Tricia, but he didn’t clean out the frying pan and there was burnt bacon bits and bacon grease throughout the scrambled eggs.

The Edisto is a black river wholly contained within SC and the South branch was where many of us who called Denmark, SC home for a time learned to swim and recognize water moccasins.
Trish had a great life timeline, including a small fraction in Denmark. Know you will miss her. 
All her Denmark Brooker first cousins send our condolences. Though “once upon a time” and over a relatively short interval, I have fond, if imprecise, recollections of our time together in that small southern town.
