Linda,
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.  Your mother was a wonderful woman and made all of us feel like we were a part of her family.  She was a wonderful role model to us of what a nurse should be and I know she was very proud of you.

Rachel was an instructor of my mom's, Nell Clontz, class of 1950, and also a very dear friend.  All that knew her loved her!  The epitome of kindness, patience, love and caring all in one package!  She always placed her patients first and loved to teach!  Thank you to all of the family for allowing us to love her too!  My mom also sends her condolences and love.  Linda and family, we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers!

As a 1979 graduate of PHSON, I, of course, remember Mrs. Yandell.  She was quite an amazing woman!  My prayers go out for Mrs. Yandell's entire family.

I graduated PHSON Class of 1972.Your mom and dad were friends with the Reids in Richburg and they bought what I remember as the Yost house there. I grew up in Richburg and Mrs. Reid was my chemistry teacher at Lewisville High.

Rachel was the matriarch of our diabetes educators group and had a huge impact on so many of us who tried to follow in her footsteps. She was such a gentle spirit who loved deeply and gave so very much of herself to everyone. She will be missed. My sympathies to her family and friends.

Rachel was one of Mama's best friends from nursing school.  She and Fleet used to come to the house at Christmas for a big dinner with Willie Mae and Charlie Allen, and my aunt and uncle, Hazel and Bob Bost.    My thoughts and prayers are with the family- and thanks to your mom for warm childhood memories.

Mrs. Yandell, as we called her, was one of our favorite Instructors at PHSON.  It was an honor to know her and be part of her life. She made an impression on every nursing student, because she cared. Mrs. Yandell was one of the gentlest women I have ever known.  I will always be reminded of her indomitable spirit because I see it in her daughter, and still again, in her daughters.  My heartfelt prayers are with the entire family.

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs Rachels  passing as a young nurse in the  late 70's I learned  so much from her at  Presb. then when her husband was sick and she came to Chester ER , I was reunited with her after 20 yrs. She was a wonderful loving caring  lady and served the Health community  for many yrs, and will be missed, but never forgotten .

I feel so fortunate and blessed to have known Aunt Rachel in all phases of my life; as a child coming to visit my grandmother for summer vacations, as a young woman on her wedding day, as a new mother,and as a middle-aged grandmother when she visited my mother for the last time in 2005. I truly admire her for the genuine person she was and love her for all the wonderful memories.

Rachel was an excellent teacher, mentor, role model, and wonderful friend.  She trained me as a diabetes educator, and was a friend for many years. Rachel always had a smile and kind word.  Sending love and prayers.

Rachel Yandell read a story about living the "dash," between birth and death dates, at the 2006 PHSON Alum meeting when our class of '66 Sisters was celebrating our 40th anniversary of graduation.  Rachel certainly lived her "dash" to the max and touched many of us along the way!!!  She was an important part of my journey as a student at PHSON and then later in life as well, always interested in where I was and what I was doing, especially the first time I was nursing in Korea.  Huge appreciation to her, for encouragement and care over these many years!!! :-)  Thoughts and prayers for her family and her many friends at this time of loss and transition. Rachel Yandell is and has been synonymous with caring for others..her family, friends, peers and her patients. She has been such a wonderful role model and mentor for me, and many other diabetes educators and nures as well.
