Rita B. Templeman

Mrs. Templeman passed away Friday, February 12, 2016, at Brookdale South Charlotte. Mom went peacefully as family members joined in prayer at her bedside.

Rita was born November 24, 1928, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to the late Roy Kidwell and Alice Kidwell. She graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, MN. She attended the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, MN. She lived and worked for a while in Washington DC with the Bureau of Land Management before returning to Minnesota. She then lived in Denver, Tulsa, New Orleans and Charlotte. Rita was a devoted wife, a dedicated Mom, and a wonderful grandmother. She worked for many years for Sears, both in New Orleans and Charlotte. She had a radiant smile and a wonderful sense of humor. She went to Ireland with her daughter Mari, where they kissed the Blarney Stone and visited distant cousins. Rita went to Mass almost every day, and greatly enjoyed the company of her fellow church ladies. She diligently set up for the early weekday Masses at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic church as long as she was able.

Rita was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Frederic Templeman. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Lenore Opalach, Mary Jane Bertler and her brother John Kidwell. She is survived by daughter Anne McGuire of Charlotte, and her daughter Vanessa Krause; son David Templeman and wife Kathy of Charlotte, and their children, Erin and Andrew McIntyre and Philip Templeman; daughter Karen Clark and her husband Bobby, and Karen’s sons Benjamin and Jeffrey Levasseur of New Orleans; daughter Mari Templeman of Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia, and her children, Keely Kathleen of Los Angeles, and son Brody Williams of Concord; and son John Templeman and wife Sandy, of Snellville, GA, and their sons, Tommy and Matthew. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Patricia Zapp, of Missoula, Montana, and Kathleen Marcotte, of Perrysburg, Ohio.

The family will receive friends 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at McEwen Pineville Chapel. A memorial mass will be held at 10:15 AM Thursday, February 18, 2016 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

A special thank you is extended to the staff at Brookdale South Charlotte and the doctors, nurses and aides from Hospice of Union County for their wonderful care of Mrs. Templeman.
