

Robert Warren Bates, born on March the 8th 1937 in Medford MA., to the late Warren and Hylma Bates passed from this life into eternal life on August 20th 2014.. After graduating from Medford High School, Robert enlisted in the military, serving in the US Army and US Air Force for eight years. Later in 1999 he retired from Qualex after thirty seven years, he spent his life devoted to his family, church and friends, serving in the choir at Huntersville Presbyterian Church for many years, he was passionate in his love for animals, a very generous and giving person who also being from Medford MA. he was a diehard Boston Redsox fan.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents as well as two brothers, left to the cherish the memories he made with his life are his wife Barbara of 29 years, son Robert Neal Bates and wife Belinda of Huntersville, NC, daughters Donna Hildreth of Huntersville, NC and Sherry Perrigo and husband Mark of Belmont, NC and a step-daughter Lavonda May and husband Gary of Fishersville, VA.. Grandchildren; Travis, Cole, Shannon, Brandon, Casey, Josh and Joe-Joe, as well as one Great-grandchild, Gavin. A brother Richard Perry and wife Dottie, sisters Barbara Smallidge and Janet Duffy and husband Bob
Family and friends will gather on Monday August 25th at 12:00 at Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church, at 2324 Sam Wilson Road, with burial at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family has asked that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society at 1901 Brunswick Ave. Charlotte, in memory of Robert.
