Born April 1, 1952 in Charlotte, he was the son of the late Robert James McCoy Sr. and Betty Jane DeShields Warvel.
Following his graduation from Olympic High School, class of 1970, he began his career in construction and was currently employed at Claris Construction as a superintendent.
The joy of Rick’s was his family. He spent many weekends with friends and family on the lake fishing. He was always eager to help out friends and family with anything they needed.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pam Osborne McCoy; six children, Rodney Wayne Sanders, Robert James McCoy III, Kimberly L McCoy, James Craig McCoy (Beth), Matthew F Frazier (Christina) and Lori Anne McCoy, eleven grand children, 2 great grand children, as well as his siblings, Terry Hopkins, Linda Johnston, Michael McCoy.
He is preceded in death by Timothy McCoy and Randall McCoy.
Services to celebrate Rick’s life will be held Friday, November 5, 2021. Visitation will be at 11 AM and the service following at 12 PM in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service — Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
