Robert Glenn Smith, Jr., age 84 of Charlotte, beloved husband of Evelyn Doughty Smith, passed away September 5th. Born in Mecklenburg county on April 23, 1929, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Ollie(Ward) Smith Sr.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Smith was Chief of the Mecklenburg County ABC Law Enforcement. He was also a member of Temple Oasis Shrine, Blue Lodge, West Gate Masonic Lodge 738 and Fraternal Order of Police.
Besides his wife Evelyn, he is survived by daughters Sandra Loraine McKenzie and husband Michael McKenzie of Waxhaw, NC and Cynthia Diann Townsend and husband Dr. Kenneth Townsend of Myrtle Beach, SC. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A funeral service and entombment will be held Monday, 1PM in the Mausoleum Chapel of Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte.
