Bob was born to be at sea. He was a Merchant Marine who sailed for Military Sealift Command for 28 years on all types of ships, mostly on tankers (Unrep Oilers) and cargo stores ships, refueling and resupplying Navy ships at sea as a storekeeper. He served during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Bob loved going to sea and made friends around the world. He stayed in touch with a lot of them and his shipmates. If Bob was your friend, he was your friend for life.
Robert Edward Tucker, Jr. was born November 27, 1951. He was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Tucker.
Robert (Bobby) is mostly remembered for his 28 years at sea in the Military Sealift Command, providing Navy ships with the supplies they needed.
He leaves behind a sister Betty Crawford; nieces Colleen Sluka and Caroline Crawford; great nephew Peter Sluka, Jr. and children Tiffany and Megan Sluka; great niece Ellen Makkas and husband Sotirios "Sam"; cousin June and husband Joe Lewis; sister-in-law Celie Horan and her husband Gus and many friends.
Visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 2-3pm.
